Sangiovesse

Derived from the Latin word Sanguis Jovis or "the blood of Jupiter," Sangiovese's ancestral home is Italy and its star red grape. While it is best known in Tuscany within the regions of Chianti Classico and Brunello di Montalcino, many stellar examples are popping up in the states of Washington, California, and Texas. Often overlooked, this is the grape that will make you hungry with its bright red fruit and savory herb aromas.
